Tokayev orders thorough investigation after Nur-Sultan blackout

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered to create a commission to investigate the breakdown at the power stations, which left most part of Nur-Sultan without electricity.

"Concerning the breakdown, which led to power outage a big part of the capital city, the head of state Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ordered the government to create a special commission headed by Vice Prime Minister Roman Sklyar," President's spokesman Berik Uali said on social media.

According to Tokayev, a thorough investigation is needed to establish those guilty of the blackout to hand them over to the law enforcement bodies, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported.

The head of state ordered the government and the mayor's office of Nur-Sultan to take the urgent measures on prevention of such situations in future.

The power outage occurred in Nur-Sultan at the night of November 10. Breakdown was reported at the Levoberezhnaya power station. In this regard, electricity in most part of the city, including the administrative buildings, were cut off electricity for safety reasons.
